St. Margaret’s Church (NCEM) 5 Piece Band Spatial Measurements

Intended for creative use, this set of impulse responses attempts to capture the spatial properties of a 5 piece band in St Margaret’s Church. Measurements were taken from the position of each imagined band member to the position of an equidistant central audience member. A stereo 45 degree coincident pair of AKG C414s and a Soundfield ST250 b-format microphone were used to capture the spatial information, with two additional room microphones (Rode NT1s) further afield. Speaker and microphones were at fixed height throughout measurement, both roughly 1.5m. Impulse responses have been normalised within pairs/groups to maintain spatial relative gain, (i.e., the C414 pair together, NT1 pair together, B-format channels together). Note: Annotation in this entry uses ‘stage left’ and ‘stage right’ (see layout diagram). ‘Left’ stereo channels in this set of IRs are microphones on the stage left side, and are not necessarily stereo left channel when used.
